1. Wilton Cyclone Whisk, Php550.00 at Gourdo's
Some argue that a wire whisk is just another tool that can be easily substituted with a fork or a spatula. Although this can be true to some extent, a wire whisk, especially Wilton’s Cyclone Whisk, has important functions that no other tool can do. Fluffy omelets, creamy sauces, airy toppings, and even well-incorporated dry ingredients can only be created with the use of a wire whisk. Wilton’s ergonomic non-slip handle is comfortable and provides a firm grip. Also, the unique center spiral is silicone-coated, which makes it easy to clean, mix faster, and add more air for whipping.
2. Salter Aquatronic Hanging Kitchen Scale, Php3,600.00 at Gourdo's
Recipes call for measurements. It can be in the form of cups and spoons, and sometimes it’s in the form of grams and ounces. Best results and consistency in cooking are attained through proper measuring. With Salter’s Aquatronic Weighing Scale, you’re on your way to becoming an esteemed cook. This weighing scale is touch screen, can take up to three kilos, has a large display for easy reading, and can double as a clock when hung. Unlike other weighing scales, Salter’s Aquatronic feature makes it possible to measure both dry and liquid ingredients.

3. Kitchen Prince Chef’s Knife, Php109.75 at The Landmark Department Store
A Chef’s knife is the ultimate kitchen tool. No kitchen is complete without it. In fact, a chef’s knife can perform almost all the functions of other knives. The sharp tip allows you to mince vegetables and fruits faster, while the cornered edge is used for chopping tough meat and cartilages. The semi curve of the blade makes the knife rock back and forth, providing ease in handling. Chef’s knives come in a variety of sizes – six, eight, ten, and twelve inches. There really is no perfect size, as long as you are comfortable with the knife you’ve chosen.
4. 4-in-1 Boxed Grater, Php299.00 at The Landmark Department Store
Cheese isn’t the only food that can be grated. When grated, carrots, onions, garlic, ginger, and citrus fruits can do wonders for dishes as well. The invention of this gadget has actually made life more convenient. Ingredients can be easily blended in dishes and flavors become more evident when grated. The 4-in-1 Boxed Grater is easier to use compared to the common grater because it comes with a built-in container that ensures minimal waste and trouble-free clean-up. The 4-in-1 feature is also handy for recipes calling for chunks, fine pieces, or even slices.

5.Wooden Chopping Board, Php224.00 at The Landmark Department Store
It is a popular belief that plastic chopping boards are more ideal compared to wooden ones. This is supposedly because plastic is non-porous while wood absorbs moisture, increasing the likelihood of housing germs and bacteria from raw food. But studies show that there really is no difference between the two. In fact, germs don’t seem to spread or multiply when on wood. Chopping boards keep kitchen surfaces free from knife scratches and, when color coded, helps minimize cross-contamination. The important thing here is that, whatever chopping board you choose, make sure it is properly sanitized.
